Chichester Area Talking News Annual General Meeting 2019

Posted on 5 December 2019

CATN held its 2019 Annual General Meeting in Oving Village Hall on 24 October. Around 100 listeners, carers, volunteers and friends braved the wind and heavy rain to attend the event. It was the last AGM for retiring Chairman Dave McVittie, who was standing down after three years. In his place, Dick Bunker was elected as the new Chairman. Dick is already well-known to many listeners and volunteers as he has been a newsreader and a presenter of ‘Insight’ for ten years.

The business of the meeting was swiftly conducted, including CATN becoming a ‘charitable incorporated organisation’ as recommended by the Charity Commission, and the election of officers for the forthcoming year. For a full list: https://www.catn.org.uk/committee

After the meeting, a light lunch was served and the Solent Male Voice Choir entertained everyone with a light musical selection. The Treasurer, Geoff Porter, and retiring Chairman Dave McVittie are both members of the Choir. Dave will not be lost to CATN as he will continue to look after the supply of USB players. Sheila Forsyth again organised the raffle, which raised £121 plus £25 in donations. Thanks to her and to those who donated the prizes, as well as everyone who helped with transport and the arrangements in the hall. All in all, another very successful day.
