The 2017 Listeners' Lunch

It was lovely to meet many of our listeners at the annual lunch on September 3rd. Many thanks to Chichester Park Hotel for the wonderful service, all the volunteers for their help, and of course the listeners for coming along.

Gillian Wintle retires to Devon!

Gillian Wintle has been a volunteer reader at Chichester Area Talking News (CATN) for over ten years and now has plans to move to Devon. Some fellow volunteers from CATN recently gathered in the recording studio to mark Gillian's retirement and to wish her well.

Harry Newman retires!

Harry Newman has retired! A ceremony at the CATN studio on July 13th 2017, saw Harry presented with some rather nice wine to commemorate the close of 30 years of service to CATN. Variously Treasurer, Committee member and latterly one half a famous copying team, Harry has been a stalwart volunteer. He is retiring – not because he will be 91 next birthday, but because he finds the increased levels of traffic on the drive to and from Selsey becoming overly tiresome.

South of England Talking News Conference

Dereck Double - President of The Rotary Club of Chichester - presenting a cheque for £1,000 to Dave McVittie, Chairman of CATN
On Saturday 8 July 2017, Chichester Area Talking News (CATN) held a conference at St Richard's Hospital for all Talking News organisations in the South of England. Seventy-seven delegates arrived from 15 Talking News organisations from as far afield as North Devon and Norfolk to be welcomed by the Mayor of Chichester, Councillor Peter Evans.

Eighteen CATN volunteers, mostly Morning or Area Helpers, met in Lavant Village Hall on Wednesday 5th April for their annual meeting and lunch.
